Assistant/Associate Extension Agent (Nutrition) - Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes

Work Location: Calcasieu and Cameron parishes. The domicile location is Lake Charles, LA, Calcasieu Parish.
Position Description: The assistant/associate area nutrition agent will provide seventy-five percent effort to
the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) providing leadership and supervision of the
program and nutrition educator-paraprofessional personnel in Calcasieu Parish.  Additionally, the incumbent
will develop and sustain collaborative relationships with community agencies and grassroots organizations to
expand EFNEP’s outreach in the parish.
The agent will spend provide twenty-five percent time directing efforts focusing on nutrition, health, and
wellness by planning, implementing, and evaluating educational workshops, programs, series of lessons and
other teaching for the public in Calcasieu parish with the Flavors of Health (FOH) program. The agent will be
expected to conduct work on Healthy Communities policy, systems, and environmental changes under both
the EFNEP and FOH program.
Qualification Requirements: A baccalaureate degree in dietetics, community and family nutrition, human
ecology, public health, wellness and or/health, food science, food systems management, or closely related
field from an accredited college or university is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
This is a partially grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Funding must be available for any continuation of
